Chowan University, founded in 1848, is a small, private university located in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, a rural area within the Inner Banks region of the state. Historically affiliated with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, the institution offers a blend of liberal arts education and professional studies, with a range of undergraduate degrees across disciplines including business, education, and the fine arts. Known for its historic architecture that reflects a blend of colonial and modern styles, the campus provides on-campus student housing options. Academically, Chowan is recognized for its graphic communications program, among others, and places a strong emphasis on individualized attention for its diverse student body.
