Overview

The University of New Mexico-Valencia County Campus, located in the heart of Los Lunas, New Mexico, offers students a distinctive educational experience just 30 minutes south of Albuquerque. Established with the intent to serve the educational needs of Valencia County, this regional branch of the University of New Mexico was founded in 1981 and is set against the backdrop of the rural New Mexican landscape. The campus is characterized by its small size, fostering a more intimate and focused learning environment, with a selection of associate degrees and certificate programs that cater to a range of academic interests, including but not limited to business administration, nursing, and liberal arts. Although the campus does not provide on-campus housing, it is embedded within a community that offers local amenities and a tranquil setting for its commuter students. The University of New Mexico-Valencia does not feature an extensive athletic program, placing a greater emphasis on its academic offerings and student services. Admission to the campus is generally less selective, with an open-access policy designed to accommodate a diverse student population seeking higher education opportunities.

University of New Mexico Valencia County Campus has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  246 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,707 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,788 plus fees of $90.
