Overview

The University of Nebraska at Kearney is a four-year public institution located in Kearney, Nebraska, approximately 184 miles west of Omaha. Established in 1905 as a teacher's college, it has since expanded its academic offerings with a portfolio that includes business administration, education, and health sciences among its popular majors. The campus boasts a blend of traditional and modern architecture with facilities that provide on-campus housing options to accommodate its student population. With a moderately selective admissions process, the university attracts a diverse undergraduate student body. Its academic environment is supported by a range of undergraduate and graduate programs, and it is regionally recognized for its strong emphasis on teacher education. The University of Nebraska at Kearney does offer intercollegiate athletics and competes in the NCAA Division II, primarily in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, under the team name "Lopers."
