Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, is situated in Nevada, Missouri, approximately 90 miles south of Kansas City. Established in 1884 by Virginia Alice Cottey Stockard, it is owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities for women. Cottey College offers a unique campus environment with a focus on leadership development and international education. The curriculum is notable for strong programs in international relations, environmental studies, and fine arts, among its diverse range of majors.
