Cottey College

Overview

Cottey College, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, is situated in Nevada, Missouri, approximately 90 miles south of Kansas City. Established in 1884 by Virginia Alice Cottey Stockard, it is owned and supported by the P.E.O. Sisterhood, a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities for women. Cottey College offers a unique campus environment with a focus on leadership development and international education. The curriculum is notable for strong programs in international relations, environmental studies, and fine arts, among its diverse range of majors. In the most recent statistical year 682 prospective students applied, and 498 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 96 enrolled in the school.  309 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 2 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $23,350 plus fees of $1,610.
