Saint Cloud State University (SCSU), founded in 1869, is a public institution situated in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, along the banks of the Mississippi River. Approximately an hour's drive from Minneapolis, SCSU occupies a campus noted for its blend of traditional, modern, and brutalist architecture. The university provides a spectrum of undergraduate and graduate programs with notable emphasis on business, education, and engineering. Saint Cloud State University is less selective with a broad admissions policy. Student housing is available and includes residence halls, apartments, and themed-living communities catering to various academic and lifestyle interests. SCSU also offers a variety of student services including nonremedial tutoring and health services. While the university maintains a range of athletic programs, it is particularly recognized for its men's and women's hockey teams, which compete under the moniker the Huskies.
