Finlandia University is a private institution founded in 1896 by Finnish immigrants and located in Hancock, Michigan, in the state's Upper Peninsula. The campus offers a serene setting against the backdrop of a close-knit small town, situated on a hill overlooking the scenic Portage Lake. The university is known for its strong emphasis on liberal arts education and pre-professional studies, with notable programs in nursing, physical therapist assistant, and art and design through its International School of Art & Design.
