Mount Ida College

Overview

Mount Ida College was a private institution located in Newton, Massachusetts, within close proximity to the academic and cultural opportunities of Boston. The college, which permanently closed in May 2018, was established in 1899 and offered a picturesque campus that combined elements of traditional New England architecture with modern facilities. The academic profile of Mount Ida included a range of undergraduate programs with particular emphasis on professional studies such as veterinary technology, dental hygiene, and design. The application process was moderately selective. On-campus living options were available to students, reflecting a residential college experience. While active, Mount Ida's athletic teams, known as the Mustangs, participated in a variety of sports within the NCAA Division III, though the college was not widely known for athletic dominance.

In the most recent statistical year 3,217 prospective students applied, and 2,409 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 538 enrolled in the school.  1,468 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 87 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $34,200 plus fees of $1,520.
