Overview

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) is a public institution situated in North Adams, Massachusetts, closely positioned to both the cultural hub of the Berkshires and less than an hour's drive to Albany, New York. Established in 1894 as a teacher?s college, MCLA evolved into a liberal arts college, offering a range of undergraduate programs favored in English, business, and education, along with a selection of graduate programs. The campus, characterized by its blending of historic and modern architectural styles, provides on-campus housing options for students. While the college maintains a moderately selective admissions process, it also offers an intimate educational setting, reflected in its low student-to-faculty ratio. MCLA does not prominently feature in athletics, focusing instead on academic development and experiential learning opportunities.

In the most recent statistical year 1,456 prospective students applied, and 1,346 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 177 enrolled in the school.  735 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 203 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,030 plus fees of $10,560.
