Maine Maritime Academy

Overview

Maine Maritime Academy, located in the coastal town of Castine, Maine, is a public college focused on maritime training and education. Established in 1941, the academy sits on a picturesque campus overlooking the Penobscot River, catering to those interested in the fields of engineering, management, science, and transportation. It offers a rigorous academic profile with a moderately selective application process. Known for its specialized programs in marine sciences, maritime logistics, and marine engineering, the academy's curriculum is designed to blend classroom instruction with hands-on maritime skills. In the most recent statistical year 1,164 prospective students applied, and 671 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 219 enrolled in the school.  862 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 35 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $11,474 plus fees of $3,088.
