Overview

Southern University and A & M College, located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is a historically black public institution established in 1880. Set on a campus overlooking the Mississippi River, the university is approximately a 10-minute drive from downtown Baton Rouge, offering students an urban atmosphere within close proximity to the city's resources. The institution is known for its substantial offerings in engineering, business, and education programs. Southern University and A & M College maintains a moderately selective admissions process.
