Overview

Indiana State University is a public institution located in Terre Haute, Indiana, approximately 77 miles southwest of Indianapolis. Founded in 1865, it offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs with a notable emphasis on service and experiential learning. The university is set in a small city, providing a suburban feel with its spread-out campus featuring a mix of modern and historic architecture, including the landmark Scott College of Business housed in the renovated Federal Hall. Indiana State University is known for its programs in education, business, and the health professions. With a variety of on-campus housing options, students have the opportunity to live and learn in a close-knit environment. The university?s admissions process is characterized as less selective. The Sycamores, as the athletic teams are known, compete in the NCAA Division I Missouri Valley Conference, but intercollegiate athletics are not the primary focus of campus life.

In the most recent statistical year 18,531 prospective students applied, and 17,105 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 1,535 enrolled in the school.  6,540 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 2,118 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $9,452 plus fees of $280.
