The University of Georgia (UGA), located in Athens, approximately 70 miles northeast of Atlanta, is a public research university esteemed for its significant history and vibrant campus life within a classic college town atmosphere. Founded in 1785, UGA stands as one of the oldest public universities in the United States. The campus is recognized for its prominent arches and historic buildings, encapsulating the antebellum architecture amidst a sprawling 762-acre main campus.
