Overview

Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU), located in Marietta, Georgia, was a public, co-educational, state university part of the University System of Georgia. The campus was situated approximately 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, offering a suburban setting well-integrated with the region's technological corridors. Before merging into Kennesaw State University in 2015, SPSU specialized in science, engineering, technology, and related fields. The university had a history rooted in technical education dating back to its establishment in 1948 and was recognized for its hands-on and practical approach to higher education. Prospective students encountering a moderately selective application process could choose from a range of popular majors including engineering, engineering technology, and computer sciences. On-campus living accommodations were available, designed to support the academic and personal development of students. While SPSU provided a variety of club and intramural sports, it was not particularly noted for its intercollegiate athletics.

In the most recent statistical year 1,535 prospective students applied, and 1,212 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 790 enrolled in the school.  3,851 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 1,933 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $4,417 plus fees of $1,422.
