Macon State College

Overview

Macon State College, located in Macon, Georgia, is a former state college that was consolidated with Middle Georgia State University in 2013. The campus, known prior to its consolidation for a modern architectural style, was settled in the heart of Georgia, approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, offering students a blend of urban and pastoral settings. The institution emphasized a commitment to personalized education and accessible higher learning, catering to a diverse student body with a range of associate and bachelor?s degree programs. While historically maintaining a relatively inclusive admissions policy, Macon State was recognized for its programs in Nursing and Information Technology. The college did not offer on-campus housing, encouraging a commuter and non-traditional student experience. Prior to its consolidation, athletic programs were not a prominent feature of the Macon State College campus experience.

In the most recent statistical year 2,571 prospective students applied, and 1,207 were granted admission.  Of those admitted 813 enrolled in the school.  3,235 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 2,467 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $2,277 plus fees of $588.
