The University of West Florida (UWF), situated in Pensacola, Florida, is a mid-sized public institution that provides a diverse range of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. Founded in 1967, it stands about 10 miles from downtown Pensacola, offering a suburban setting flanked by natural beauty, including views of the Escambia River and access to the Gulf of Mexico. UWF is known for its strong emphasis on research and its College of Business and Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, amongst others. The campus architecture largely reflects modern and contemporary styles with facilities designed to complement the surrounding landscape. UWF houses on-campus living options, including residence halls and apartment complexes specifically designed for students. In terms of selectivity, UWF maintains moderately selective admissions standards.
