University of California-Irvine (UCI) is a public research university situated in Irvine, California, and is part of the prestigious University of California system. Founded in 1965, UCI sits near the coast of Southern California, approximately 50 miles south of Los Angeles, offering a suburban environment with Mediterranean climate. The campus is known for its Aldrich Park, a central park with a botanical garden, and contemporary architecture such as the striking Langson Library. UCI offers student housing across several residential communities.
