College of the Canyons

Overview

College of the Canyons, located in Santa Clarita, California, is a public two-year community college established in 1969, catering to a diverse student population with its two campuses in Valencia and Canyon Country. Approximately 30 miles north of downtown Los Angeles, the college serves the northern portion of Los Angeles County. It offers a broad range of associate degree and certificate programs, with popular majors including Business Administration, Nursing, and Fire Technology. While not primarily residential, limited student housing is available near the Valencia campus. The college operates on an open admissions policy, welcoming a wide array of students seeking higher education and vocational training. College of the Canyons also provides continuing education and community extension courses, emphasizing workforce development and personal enrichment. The campus's contemporary design features state-of-the-art facilities amidst a high desert backdrop. Although the college is not prominently known for its athletic programs, it competes as the Cougars in various sports within the California Community College Athletic Association.

College of the Canyons has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  4,802 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 13,273 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,104 plus fees of $58.
