California State Polytechnic University-Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) is a public polytechnic university located in Pomona, California, approximately 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Founded in 1938, the university is known for its philosophy of "learn by doing," which emphasizes hands-on and experiential learning. The campus is distinctive for its diverse architectural landscape, including the prominent Arabian Horse Center and the historic Kellogg House. Cal Poly Pomona offers undergraduate and graduate programs across eight colleges with a particular emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, as well as programs in the College of Business Administration. Popular majors include engineering, business, and hospitality management. The school has a moderately selective admissions process. While notable for its academics, Cal Poly Pomona also provides on-campus housing options to foster a collegiate environment.
