Overview

Bakersfield College, established in 1913 as a junior college and located in Bakersfield, California, is a public community college offering a variety of associate degrees, certificates, and transfer programs to a diverse student body. Situated approximately 110 miles north of Los Angeles, the college resides in a suburban area, providing a mixture of Southern California culture and a smaller community feel. The campus is characterized by its Mediterranean revival architecture, with facilities that support both academic and vocational training. Bakersfield College has an open admission policy which permits enrollment by any high school graduate or GED holding student.  7,244 students are enrolled on a full time basis, and 19,629 attend part time. In-state tuition for 2022/2023, excluding room and board, is $1,380 plus fees of $50.
