Henderson State University, founded in 1890, is a public institution situated in the small town of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, about 70 miles southwest of Little Rock. The university?s campus, known for its hallmark red-brick architecture, offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and pre-professional programs, with notable emphasis on aviation, education, and business disciplines. Henderson State provides on-campus housing options across several residence halls and apartment complexes. The university, while not selective, retains a moderate admissions process, inviting a diverse range of applicants. Academically, Henderson is regionally known for its Teachers College, which has a longstanding history of preparing educators. Though not primarily renowned for athletics, Henderson State competes in the NCAA Division II as part of the Great American Conference, and its athletes are known as the Reddies.
